About the game -------------- ****************************** **WARNING THIS GAME CONTAINS** ** CRUDE HUMOUR & IS NOT ** ** INTENDED FOR CHILDREN OR ** ** ANYONE EASILY OFFENDED ** ****************************** This little demo has been put together for the First Annual Festive Amiga Games Competion. It is the first time I have attempted to make anything like this and it has been a huge learning curve. The game itself is based on Telltale Games' Sam & Max Nearly Save Christmas and Ice Station Santa. It uses backgrounds and sprites downscaled from Telltale's concept art and the Lucasarts title Sam & Max Hit the Road. Sam and Max themselves are the creation of Steve Purcell. As work has not permitted me very much time to create something for this competition (I was thinking of making a Christmas themed Metal Gear type game) I decided to see if it was possible to bring a modern adventure game to the humble classic Amiga. This is only intended as an experiment and a way to learn how to use GRAC without having to spend the many, many hours required to draw all the graphics required for a point and click adventure. I've tried to recreate as much as possible for the competition deadline, however I realise that it isn't a lot. There are two rooms to explore however no puzzles to complete as of yet. I hope what has been included though amuses those of you who play it. If I get the oppertunity in the next few weeks more will be added - characters, puzzles, another room, music and more sound effects, however the game will never be fully completed as it gives me no pleasure trampeling over the copyrights of others. This has just been a way of learning how to make an adventure game, motivated by Cammy's amazing competition. Once I have mastered a few more skills it will be time to put this project to bed and start on an original point and click adventure. Known issues ------------ All backgrounds look about as awful as Sierra's Amiga ports ;-) Characters heads don't move while speaking. Max has markers around him as I misplaced them while drawing him. When skipping through dialogue sprites may freeze in strange positions. The bottom right of the inventory flickers. A number will appear in the verb window if you double click a verb icon. Things I'd love to know how to do if anyone can help ---------------------------------------------------- Create dialogue trees. Stop numbers appearing when multi-clicking verbs. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!!
